Meet our Pastor:
Rev. James J. Martell
On July 1, 2022, Rev. James “Jim” Martell arrived at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church as the new Pastor, named by Bishop David Talley.
Fr. Jim was born in 1955 in Akron Ohio. He has 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He graduated from Union City High School in 1974. The city of Union City is in Northwest Tennessee. He attended University of Tennessee at Martin, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in1980. He studied at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana, and received a Master’s Degree in Divinity in 1988. He was Ordained a Priest by Most Rev. Bishop Buechlein, OSB on July 2, 1988. Fr. Jim has served as a Pastor in several Parishes in the Diocese of Memphis. He has also been in charge of the Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese of Memphis from 1990 to 1998. Fr. Jim is looking forward to serving the people of St. Philip Parish as their Shepherd. He has been impressed with the parishioners ownership of their parish and being alive with the love of Jesus in their hearts. |
