Fayette Cares Garden Plot Reconstruction
The vegetable garden at Fayette Cares was in need of rehabilitation. Volunteers from St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Master Gardeners, the Rotary Club of Somerville, and others in the Fayette County community came together to provide funding and labor to renew and refresh the garden. Scroll down to see the project from start to finish.
From Alexadra Porto, Executive Director for Fayette Cares:
The children in the shelter are just thrilled with what they are finding in the vegetable garden! Another client told me she can’t sleep well, so early in the mornings she spends time in the garden where it’s beautiful and peaceful and she picks vegetables. Many thanks to St. Philip, Master Gardeners, Rotary Club and all in the community who helped make this such a treasure and a place of healing.
