Rosary Times ~ Monday Morning Rosary ~ The Rosary is said every 1st Monday of each month at 10:30am in the Sanctuary. The next Rosary will be on Monday, August 2nd at 10:30am.

The Finance Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd has been canceled.

Parish Pastoral Council will meet on Monday, August 9th at 7:00pm in Schaubroeck Hall.

SPOTS ~ Please join us for fun, food & fellowship on Tuesday, August 10th at 6:00pm in Schaubroeck Hall. Chicken is on the menu so please bring a dish to go along with it. A sign up sheet is at the Parish Communication Center.

Adult Faith Formation - Monthly Faith Sharing, Gospel of Matthew will be held the first Wednesday of each month with first class beginning August 4th; 1:00-3:00pm in Schaubroeck Hall. Call Pat Crivelli at 465-6496 to register and receive book.

PRE Starts Soon! – Our PRE classes start the week of August 15th. Registration forms will be available in the narthex, Sunday, August 1st. Please complete the forms and return them as soon as possible. Costs for PRE this year will remain the same - $25-1st child, $20-2nd child, $15-3rd child, 4 or more children are free. SPAM Fundraiser!! Put it on your calendars!! – The SPAM pasta fundraising sale starts next Sunday, August 8th!! Fun Pasta Fundraising features products such as shaped pasta, pasta salads, soups, and angel hair pasta!! Add a great touch to your tailgate parties with college team pasta or get some as gifts….something for everyone. The youth will be in the narthex the next two Sundays taking orders or you may contact one of the SPAM reps to place your order. Thank you in advance for your generous support of our youth group program.

SPAM Kick-Off Rally - Any youth of the parish in grades 7-12 is invited to join us for a Lock-In Kick-Off Rally to start our new year!! Get to know the kids of St. Philip as we play games, watch movies, play video games, eat and have LOTS of fun! The lock-in will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 13th.

Office of Religious Education – The Office of Religious Education is now open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 am – 3 pm. Outside normal office hours, the DRE, Ginny Modlin, can be reached at 413-4441 or ginny.modlin@stphilip.cdom.org,

Charity Show & Shine - The St. Philip the Apostle Knights of Columbus Council 14482 will be presenting the 2010 Charity Show & Shine on September 11th, in conjunction with the Fayette County Cotton Festival. The Show & Shine will be located north on Main St starting at the historic Somerville square. We are anticipating over 100 vehicles….and a great event.  The Cotton Festival will feature live music, stage shows and a large variety of vendors for casual shopping. The Knights will also have a sidewalk cabaret featuring their famous bar-b-q, sausage & beans, slaw, corn-on-the cob, and cold drinks. For more information contact Chuck Wombough at 493-8749.

Organist & Choir Director - St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 11710 US Hwy 64, Somerville TN 38068, (901) 465-8685; e-mail stphilipcc@bellsouth.net. Small rural parish seeks a part-time Organist and Choir Director. Responsible for developing and expanding music program, establish adult and teen choral groups, recruiting/directing cantors, and instrumentalists. Candidate must be familiar with the GIRM and Music in Catholic Worship, have keyboard skills, well versed in a variety of musical styles, and work collaboratively in a team model. Lighthouse Catholic Media CDs -  We are pleased to announce that Lighthouse Catholic Media CDs are now available at St. Philip! These CDs offer faith enriching talks on a wide variety of aspects of our faith. CDs are $3 and brochures are $.50, is on the honor system. Please deposit the money in the kiosk deposit slot. New titles will be added as current supplies are depleted.

Bulletin Announcements - A reminder to the community regarding bulletin announcements: All bulletin announcements should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the event. There is a standard form available at the Parish Communication Center or click here to submit the form via email.

Silent Weekend Retreat at Our Lady Queen of Peace - Blessings in Disguise: The Beatitude Way of Life; August 6th - 8th. This retreat will include conferences & prayer services in an atmosphere of silence. Suggested offering: $170 - single / $140 - double. Contact 731-548-2500.

Catholic Charities of West Tennessee & Church of the Holy Spirit’s Parish Social Ministry Advisory Committee will be hosting a parish social ministry retreat & workshop entitle, “A Faithful Imagination: Seeking a Better Life & a Better World.” August 21st, 9:00am - 1:00pm at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
