ANNOUNCEMENTS

Parish Pastoral Council Meeting

January 5, 2009, 7:00p.m.

Parish Policy regarding Hazards Weather Conditions - With the onset of winter, often the weather can interfere with planned events of the parish such as meetings or even mass. Please make sure to call the church for any cancellation information if you are not sure. Generally, if Fayette Co. School has closed due to weather conditions, parish events will also be cancelled.

Parish Announcements - At a recent Parish Pastoral Council meeting, a suggestion was made regarding when to make announcements at mass. After conversation, a recommendation was made to begin making our parish announcements before mass begins. So beginning the weekend of Jan. 10th & 11th, all parish announcements will be made approximately five minutes before the start time of mass. We will continue the practice of distributing the parish bulletin following mass.

Town Hall - This past August 24th, I held my first Parish Town Hall meeting. In keeping with my goal to have additional Town Hall meeting, I have scheduled four to occur in 2009. The first one of the year will be Sunday, Jan. 25th at approximately 11:00 am. There have been a number of important developments since the first Town Hall meeting and I wish to keep the entire parish informed. The Parish Pastoral Council has been re-established with several meetings already having taken place as is true of the Parish Finance Council. At this January Town Hall meeting, there will be some follow up regarding the new priest rectory, a pending parish wide feasibility study and time for you to share your own concerns. I look forward to hearing from the members of the parish at the January Town Hall meeting on Sunday, January 25th.

YOUTH GROUP

NCYC FUNDRAISERS

Our youth group is trying to get a head start on raising funds for next year's NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference).  They will need lots of help so they can attend and continue their trend as one of the largest groups from our diocese...not bad for a small parish!!  We have enrolled in the Schnuck's Escrip program and the Kroger Shopping Card program.

Escrip - For anyone who shops at Schucks...this program uses shopping cards registered to St. Philip's.  You get a card from us, load money on it, and use it when you shop.  We make money whenever money is loaded on the card and a deposit is made each month.  How easy is that!  The cards don't cost anything and you use then just like any shopping card.  Please see Ginny to get your card.

Kroger - The youth group still has Kroger shopping cards.  They are $5 and come loaded with $5 on them.  You load whatever amount you want on the card and shop as usual.  Every time the card is used; Kroger gives us a percentage.  We get a check about once a month.  We have gotten several hundred dollars so far with this program, so please continue to support the youth with Kroger shopping cards.  Please see Ginny or a member of the youth group to purchase a card.

Campbell's Label for Education

Thanks to those who have been saving UPC's for us.  To date, we have 435 UPCs.  Our goal is 4700 UPCs, which we'll use to get a new CD player for the religious education programs.  Just a reminder, please save either the UPC or the entire label for us.  We need to have the UPC to turn in for credit.  Any questions, please call Ginny at 465-7997.
